Below is an outline of the Moodle work to be carried out over the summer by LCC Digital Learning Team and UAL Digital and Technology.
Timeline
6th July: New Moodle pages rolled out.
6th July – 10th July: Checking of hierarchy/structure/ mapping
13th July – 24th July: Importing 25/26 content to 26/27 Moodle pages
27th July – 14th August: Restructuring course sites and top section of unit sites.
17th August: Students and staff will start being enrolled (can be moved earlier if previous work is completed)
Importing
The Digital Learning Team, along with the Course Support Administrators, will do the importing of the 25/26 page contents to new 26/27 pages. You will still be able to access 25/26 pages.
Restructuring
During this academic year Digital Learning team have been doing some structure work on unit pages. This has included added a page break subheading, e.g. Weekly Plan or Project Plan. Adding headings in the assessment section and course information section.
We will finish this work to standardise the area above the ‘Weekly Plan’ page-break to strengthen a consistant experience for students across Moodle pages.
We will also be continue this standardising work with the course pages. The team will be applying standardised sections, for example on course information, Library services, academic and language support, attendance and SEAts. We will rearrange materials into those sections and create a hidden section for any material we are not sure where to put for staff to check.
Changes to Moodle Dashboard
There will be changes to the Moodle dashboard UAL-wide. The changes will bring ‘My courses’ into the dashboard making it easier for students to find course and unit pages. The front end developer team are still refining this but should look a little like this.
There will be card images for each page, with collapsible sections for each year. Several prototypes have been tested with students and we are awaiting confirmation of a timeline for rolling this out.
