Connecting Teams to Panopto

You can now connect your Teams account to Panopto, so that any recordings that you make automatically get copied across.

The advantage of this, is that whilst Teams only keeps recordings for six months on Stream, Panopto stores them for 13 months (if the video is not viewed during this time, it is archived). For more information please read Educational Video retention policy and the Educational Video Policy.

The following steps will take you through the process of linking the two accounts:

  1. In Teams, click on the Apps button the left-hand side of the screen.

  1. Once authenticated, you will now have a series of settings for Panopto.
Example of the setup options of the Panopto app in Teams
  • Pause Import: This will stop recording being made until resumed.
  • Default Recordings Folder: You can decide where your recordings are stored on Panopto. By default this will be to a subfolder called Meeting Recordings, in your My Folder.
  • Meeting-Folder Mappings: Allows you automatically save a meeting with a specific name to a specific folder in Panopto.
  • Remove Integration: Deletes the connection between the Teams channel and Panopto.

Once the above has been set up, Teams will now start to backup any recordings that you make to both Stream and Panopto.

If you would like to discuss the above further, please contact the Digital Learning team via lccdigitallearning@lcc.arts.ac.uk.

Notes

  • Recordings saved into your Meeting Recordings folder are only viewable by yourself. You will need to change the sharing permissions for others to view the video.
