Elena Hernandez-Martin, Interim Digital Learning Director & DL Producer

Elena Hernandez-Martin

Elena joined LCC in January 2022, after having worked in digital education in large HE UK institutions since 2008. She studied Media in Spain and Interactive and Learning Design in the UK. Soon after moving to London and while working as a freelance photographer, she started became interested in the field of Digital Education. Elena has a MA in Digital Media Design and has won DL design innovation awards.

Since 2013, Elena has worked in senior roles as Senior DL developer, Learning Design manager, and Digital Learning director. During these years, she has implemented digital learning best practises, written and embedded policies across institutions as well as executing large benchmarking exercises. Elena has managed sizeable multidisciplinary digital learning projects and teams. Her areas of expertise are learning design (fully online and blended), interface design, UX,  usability, inclusiveness and accessibility; and the application of technology within a pedagogical online framework. 

By working in online/blended learning Elena aims to help making education a more inclusive, accessible and affordable resource. 

Sheila Smith, Senior Digital Learning Coordinator (secondment)

Sheila has spent 20 years in the FE sector with most of them at Lambeth College and has an MA in Radio from Goldsmiths College.

As well as teaching radio, journalism, photography and media Sheila was part of the teaching and learning team.

In her role as Blended Learning Expert Practitioner, she supported staff with digital skills and tools both in the classroom, online and hybrid delivery.

Scott Simmonds, Digital Learning Coordinator

Scott has joined the team from the University of Portsmouth, where he managed a team of developers with the Faculty of Humanities for 11 years.

He has experience of developing content on Moodle, supporting and delivering training to staff and students (online and in person), and how web technologies can be used as part learning, teaching and assessments.
