Inquilab/Ink-Lab Reading Group for UAL staff and students
Inquilab/Ink-Lab is a reading group for University of the Arts London staff and students who want to reimagine difference. We meet monthly to explore and activate conversations about social justice and decolonisation. We respond to objects, artefacts, poems, articles, chapters, songs, art, and more to disrupt and destabilise social and pedagogical hierarchies. Join us online at lunch time on the last Wednesday of every month.
In our first meeting on Wednesday 26 January, 12-2pm, we are looking at:
- Reading 1: Chimamanda Adichie, ‘My Mother, the Crazy African’
- Reading 2: Ande A. Nesmith, Cathryne L. Schmitz et al. The Intersection of Environmental Justice, Climate Change, Community, and the Ecology of Life. Chapter 8.
- Reading 3: A concrete poem inside a poem, written and constructed by Jheni Arboine December 2021
The session will be led by Jheni Arboine and Amita Nijhawan who are Educational Developers in the Academic Enhancement Team in the Teaching, Learning and Employability Exchange at UAL.
