Friday 15th – LCC Staff Development

We have 2 sessions running today :

How might we navigate teaching and learning in the context of climate emergency ?
11:00 – 12:30 – online

This session will present UAL’s Principles for Climate, Social & Racial Justice, co-created as part of UAL’s Climate Action Plan, and will consider what is needed for teaching and learning to design and deliver new types of creative education, that foreground human and planetary health. It will cover:
How the Principles were generated
Tensions around the use of language in this work
The role of student Climate Advocates at UAL
How staff and students might engage with the Principles in practice
The session will be run by staff and students contributing to the co-creation of this work and will invite responses and the sharing of practice from participants.

Intercultural Competencies. 15:00 – 17:00 – online

This session explores the influence of cultural backgrounds on behavioral norms and expectations, and introduces the broad set of personal competencies that have been identified as key for successful engagement in intercultural contexts, such as an international university or when working overseas. During the session, you reflect on your competency set, identify key competencies for your work role and identify areas for development.
